Social care service users
Bootstrap is commissioned by Blackburn with Darwen Social Services to find jobs for people with learning disabilities, physical disabilities and sensory impairments, and to support their personal development in work. We also take referrals from the Community Mental Health Teams in the borough to help users of secondary mental health services to achieve their aspirations in employment, training and education.
Young people
We are a delivery partner of the Connexions service on the ESF-funded Focus 4 Action project. We work with young people not in employment, education or training, and facing multiple or complex barriers to work, using an approach which combines the supported employment model with personal development work, confidence building and accredited learning.
Job Broking for people on Incapacity benefit
We are the delivery partner of a4e, delivering their Connect to Work NDDP programme across Pennine Lancashire. We provide a fast-moving and highly effective job broking service for people in receipt of qualifying disability benefits in all the major east Lancashire conurbations: Accrington, Burnley, Nelson, Blackburn, Darwen, Colne and Rawtenstall.
Bootstrap is also funded by the City Employment Strategy pilot in Blackburn with Darwen (via the Working Neighbourhoods Fund) to work with a series of Job Centre Plus customer groups with disabilities or health conditions whose support needs mean they need more one to one support, employer interventions and in-work support than mainstream employment programmes can provide.
Carers
Bootstrap is commissioned through the Working neighbourhoods Fund to deliver a Personal Development and Employment service for carers in Blackburn with Darwen.
People with common mental health conditions
Bootstrap is working with the local PCT as part of the Primary Mental Health Service in the borough, providing a personal development, learning, supported employment and job retention service for people referred by their GP as a result of conditions such as stress, depression or anxiety who want to explore ways of remaining in or moving towards the world of work.
