New Project

These are people who, if they are to make the transition into sustainable employment, require intensive, one to one, short-term, employer-facing support, and who lie at the heart of the worklessness challenge for the Local Strategic Partnership.

The project involves work with: (1) Incapacity Benefit claimants who don`t meet the Personal Capability Assessment threshold (currently calculated by JCP as one in seven) who nevertheless face residual health conditions creating barriers to work. (2) Existing IB claimants with aspirations to work who are assessed by Disability Employment Advisors as not suitable for the NDDP programme. (3) Existing JSA claimants whose support needs mean that their previous (and sometimes repeated) attendance on `employability` programmes still leaves them needing pro-active intervention to break this well-meaning cycle and go on to gain and retain real work.
